A Cirrus Training Center (CTC) is a flight school that’s been certified to supply specialized training in high-performance Cirrus airplanes. As a wide-reaching network, there are CTCs all around the country and throughout the world. The instructors who provide this specialized training and operate out of CTCs are known as CSIPs – or, Cirrus Standardized Instructor Pilots. If you’ve always wanted to try flying the innovative Cirrus-produced SR Series of airplanes or the popular Vision Jet, then you’ll need to find a CTC and CSIP who can help you learn the ins and outs of these impressive machines. The good news is that Cirrus was founded right here in Minnesota, so they’ve partnered with several high-quality flight schools to make CTCs and CSIPs available to student pilots throughout the state. Let’s take a look at the only candidates who’ve met the rigorous qualifications required by Cirrus to become a certified instruction center in MN.
Inflight Pilot Training
Since 2017, Inflight Pilot Training has been the Twin Cities’ premier Cirrus Training Center. As one of just three flight schools in the state to have met the requirements laid out in Cirrus’ partner agreements, we’ve yet again expanded our unique offerings to aspiring pilots in Minneapolis/St. Paul and the entire upper midwest region. In addition, our extensive fleet of the latest Cirrus aircraft is unsurpassed by other Minnesota flight schools, with 2 G6 2021 model SR20’s, a G6 SR22 GTS, and a G6 SR22 Turbo in our lineup. We also have five Cirrus-certified instructors on staff, ready to provide you with the best possible instruction you can find in the state. This includes transition training, instrument training, avionics training, airframe/powerplant transition training, and several other types of packages.

Lake Elmo Aero
Nestled near the striking St. Croix River Valley, Lake Elmo Aero is the only other Cirrus Training Center in central Minnesota. Their Cirrus fleet includes just one airplane, a two-year-old SR20. The plane is also available for any certified pilot to rent, whether for business or pleasure. Lake Elmo Aero offers three specific Cirrus training packages. The first is transition training, where you go from no experience with a Cirrus to entirely proficient in the SR20’s Garmin Perspective + avionics suite. Second is their Embark Program, which allows you to gain proper training for insurance purposes on a recently bought airplane. Lastly, they have an advanced transition training package that is a five-day course that’s designed around teaching instrument flight rules (IFR) in a Cirrus.

Great Planes Aviation
Southern Minnesota’s CTC is located at Rochester International Airport, provided by the local flight school Great Planes Aviation. They offer two main types of Cirrus training. This includes transition training completed over the course of three to five days, where you’ll learn to fly a Cirrus plane for the first time. Additionally, they offer an expanded advanced transition training course that lasts at least five days to help you learn the instruments of an SR20 or SR22. Their fleet of Cirrus aircraft includes three airplanes – a G6 SR20, G6 SR22 and G6 SR22. They’re also a Cirrus Authorized Service Center (CSA), meaning they have the authorization to fix, maintain and provide customer service support for SR series airplanes.
