History of Academy College Aviation Programs

For those looking into the exciting, rewarding career path of aviation, receiving the right education is key to your future success. The aviation program at Academy College in Minneapolis is a pilot training school that provides students with training. If you’re considering signing up for classes at Academy College, here is some information that will help you decide whether or not it’s the ideal school for you.

History of Aviation at Academy College

Officially opened in 1936 as the Academy of Accountancy, the college originally offered courses in the accounting and finance fields. While the school saw enrollment numbers steadily increase, it wasn’t until the introduction of innovative computer technology programs that the school established itself as a mainstay among prestigious Twin Cities colleges. With a slew of new educational courses, the school shifted its focus to fill a gap for flight training in the Twin Cities Metro. Teaming with Thunderbird Aviation, based out of Crystal Airport, they rebranded as Academy Education Center, supporting a new flight training program. Finally, as they consolidated their curriculum and expanded into offering bachelor’s degrees, they took their current name of Academy College.

Today’s Academy College Aviation Program

Since 1936, Academy College has remained committed to high-quality educational standards and supplying career development to students. They offer a number of bachelors and associates degrees, as well as certifications in many different fields — from aviation to health care to digital arts and beyond. Aviation students can enroll in three fields of study, including single and multi-engine pilot certification, business aviation and aircraft dispatch. The program is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career School and Colleges, a nationally recognized branch of the U.S. Department of Education.
