One of the Twin Cities’ most charming suburbs is Roseville. Adjacent to both Minneapolis and St. Paul, the town has great access to beautiful parks, top-quality dining, fantastic entertainment and shopping, and so much more. With that being said, let’s take a look at all of the great things to do in Roseville has to offer to both residents and visitors alike — here we go!
About Roseville
Before Minnesota was a state, the city that’s now Roseville was once home to Dakota and Ojibwa tribes, at the junction of the Minnesota and Mississippi Rivers. The first settlers migrated to the area throughout the early- and mid-1800s, claiming the area for themselves as “Rose Township”, named after one of the first pioneers to survey the area, Isaac Rose. This large area incorporated parts of Roseville, Minneapolis and St. Paul, as well as other nearby suburbs like Columbia Heights. By the turn of the 20th century, the area thrived as a stronghold for agriculture within the Twin Cities’ overall economy. With increasing access via a series of railroads and public transportation systems, interest in the township grew, attracting many new residents prior to World War II.
By the end of the war, the township could no longer maintain effective control over an increasing population and commercial district. Thus, Roseville incorporated as a village in 1948, allowing rapid influx of people and businesses to the northeastern metro area throughout the baby boom and well into the 21st century. Today, Roseville residents enjoy a more spacious and less congested suburban setting in comparison to the neighboring Twin Cities.
